Part-time Greenhouse Technician position for immediate hire. Variant Plant Company is a wholesale nursery specializing in the production of rare aroids, ferns, and other unique tropical plant species. We offer high quality plants to discerning customers. We are currently seeking a greenhouse technician to assist us with the nursery and daily horticultural operations. Greenhouse Technicians work in our new, climate-controlled greenhouse facility and warehouse space in Milford, NJ.

Job responsibilities include:

Manage crops including manual watering, pruning, pest scouting, and plant staging. Plant propagation including implementing proper sanitary, production, and treatment procedures. Tissue culture acclimatization Maintain plant inventory records. Operate automatic and manual irrigation systems. Greenhouse sanitation including sterilizing equipment, sweeping, & general cleaning Integrative pest management (under the direction of a Greenhouse Grower). Pest identification Fulfill orders including pulling customers inventory, packaging/shipping/receiving logistics.

• Wednesday 8:30am
• 4:30pm OR Monday
• Friday 8:30am
• 12:30pm Potential for full-time in the future.

Skills set, experience, and level of education: Horticultural experience in a nursery, ornamental plant production, or retail plant sales Dependable and hard working Excellent organizational skills and time management Excellent verbal and written communication Honest and punctual Work well individually or as part of a team Ability to plan and prioritize. Aptitude in problem solving. Possess a high school diploma. A college degree in horticulture or other related fields are considered heavily but not required. Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to commute to work.

Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods, lift, and bending. Ability to work comfortably in warm conditions and outside. Ability to lift 65 lbs. Ability to use power tools. Climb ladders and adhere to safety guidelines. Follow EPA and other safety guidelines for integrative pest management. Ability to commute and possess reliable transportation.

Benefits and Pay:

Position starting at $17

• $20 per hour commensurate with experience level.
