Position Summary Silver Sage Wellness is seeking an experienced cannabis cultivator to join our team as an Assistant Veg Lead . This is not an entry-level cultivation position. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working in a licensed commercial cannabis cultivation facility and a strong understanding of vegetative plant care, cloning, mother plant maintenance, transplanting, plant training, sanitation, and plant-health monitoring. The Assistant Veg Lead will work closely with the Veg Lead and Cultivation Management to execute the vegetative production schedule while helping direct and train a small team of Cultivation Assistants. This person must be capable of working independently, maintaining strict schedules, identifying problems early, providing active direction and correction to teammates, and ensuring critical Veg Room tasks are completed correctly and on time. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their area and understands that successful cultivation depends on consistency, attention to detail, communication, accountability, and execution . Responsibilities Vegetative Plant Care Perform and oversee daily care of vegetative cannabis plants throughout the veg cycle. Prune, defoliate, train, top, space, and maintain plants according to established cultivation schedules and SOPs. Monitor plant growth and development to ensure plants remain healthy, uniform, and on schedule for movement into flower. Recognize and promptly communicate abnormal plant growth, nutrient deficiencies, irrigation issues, environmental stress, pest pressure, disease symptoms, and other plant-health concerns. Maintain proper plant spacing, canopy development, cleanliness, and organization throughout the Veg Room. Cloning & Propagation Take healthy, consistent cuttings from designated mother plants. Properly prepare, label, handle, and maintain clones throughout the rooting process. Monitor clone health, rooting progress, moisture, sanitation, and environmental conditions. Identify weak or unhealthy clones and take appropriate corrective action. Maintain accurate strain identification and organization throughout propagation. Follow strict sanitation and biosecurity procedures to protect propagation areas from pests and pathogens. Mother Plant Care Maintain healthy and productive mother plants according to established schedules. Perform pruning, training, cleaning, rotation, and general maintenance of mother stock. Monitor mothers closely for plant-health, pest, disease, irrigation, and nutritional concerns. Understand how mother plant health and maintenance affect clone quality and future production. Maintain accurate plant identification and organization. Transplanting & Plant Movement Prepare pots, media, trays, work areas, and supplies for scheduled transplants. Perform and oversee transplanting of rooted clones and vegetative plants. Ensure plants are properly labeled, organized, handled, and moved according to production schedules. Coordinate plant movement and preparation so flower rooms receive healthy, properly developed plants on schedule. Verify transplant and plant-movement tasks are completed accurately before considering the work complete. Team Leadership Help direct and organize the daily work of Cultivation Assistants assigned to the Veg Room. Clearly communicate daily priorities, assignments, standards, and deadlines. Actively monitor work rather than simply assigning tasks and walking away. Provide immediate, respectful correction when work does not meet established standards. Train and coach team members on proper cultivation techniques, sanitation procedures, plant handling, and SOPs. Lead by example through attendance, punctuality, professionalism, work ethic, organization, and attention to detail. Hold team members accountable while maintaining a respectful and productive working environment. Communicate employee performance, training needs, recurring issues, and operational concerns to Cultivation Management. Scheduling & Workflow Follow established propagation, transplant, veg, and plant-movement schedules closely. Understand which tasks are time-sensitive and prioritize work appropriately. Ensure critical daily and weekly Veg Room responsibilities are completed on schedule. Anticipate upcoming workload and prepare necessary plants, supplies, equipment, and team assignments. Identify workflow problems or delays early and communicate them before they affect downstream production. Assist the Veg Lead and Cultivation Management with maintaining an efficient and predictable vegetative production cycle. Plant Health, IPM & Sanitation Regularly inspect plants for pests, disease, deficiencies, abnormalities, and other potential problems. Understand basic commercial cannabis IPM principles and immediately report potential pest or disease concerns. Follow all established IPM procedures and treatment schedules as directed. Maintain strict sanitation and biosecurity standards within propagation, mother, and vegetative areas. Clean and sanitize tools, trays, pots, work surfaces, equipment, floors, and cultivation areas according to established SOPs. Understand the importance of preventing cross-contamination between cultivation areas. Irrigation & Environment Understand basic irrigation and nutrient-management principles used in commercial cannabis cultivation. Monitor plants for signs of overwatering, underwatering, nutrient imbalance, irrigation inconsistencies, or other root-zone concerns. Observe environmental conditions and recognize when temperature, humidity, airflow, lighting, or other conditions appear abnormal. Promptly communicate irrigation, environmental, or equipment problems to Cultivation Management. Inventory, Documentation & Compliance Ensure cultivation supplies, pots, trays, media, tags, tools, PPE, and other materials are organized and available when needed. Maintain accurate plant identification, production records, and required cultivation documentation. Follow all company SOPs, safety procedures, inventory-control requirements, and Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board regulations. Maintain clean, organized, safe, and compliant cultivation areas at all times. Department Support Assist other cultivation departments when operational needs require. Participate in harvests, room turnovers, cleaning, sanitation, plant movement, and other cultivation activities as needed. Be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when required by the cultivation schedule. Requirements To be successful in this role, candidates should have: Minimum 1 year of hands-on cultivation experience in a licensed commercial cannabis facility ; additional experience is strongly preferred for this lead-level position. Demonstrated experience with vegetative cannabis plant care . Hands-on experience taking clones and maintaining propagation areas . Experience maintaining and taking cuttings from mother plants . Experience transplanting and managing plants through the vegetative growth cycle. Strong understanding of pruning, topping, defoliation, plant training, spacing, and canopy development. Ability to recognize common signs of plant stress, pest pressure, disease, nutrient deficiencies, irrigation problems, and environmental issues. Working knowledge of commercial cultivation sanitation and biosecurity practices. Ability to follow detailed production schedules and complete time-sensitive tasks consistently. Ability to independently prioritize work and maintain department operations with limited supervision. Ability and willingness to direct, train, coach, and actively correct a small team of Cultivation Assistants . Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. Ability to receive feedback, continue learning, and adapt to evolving cultivation practices and operational needs. Valid Nevada Cannabis Agent Card , or eligibility to obtain one, including the ability to pass the required background check. Candidates who do not currently possess an Agent Card must be able to obtain one and are responsible for applicable card and fingerprinting fees. Physical ability to perform labor-intensive cultivation work, including bending, lifting, reaching, repetitive movements, and standing for extended periods in warm or humid environments. Open availability for early mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when operationally necessary.
