A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.
We are seeking a hands-on, self-motivated Greenhouse Maintenance Technician to oversee the upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of our greenhouse systems, structures, and automated equipment. In this role, you will ensure our agricultural facility runs safely and reliably to support optimal plant health and crop yield. You will work closely with the cultivation team to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues across the entire facility.
Key Responsibilities Climate & HVAC Control:
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fans, heaters, vents, automated climate control systems, and evaporative cooling pads.
Irrigation & Plumbing:
Fix pumps, valves, filters, and digital controllers to ensure continuous watering schedules.
Automation Equipment:
Service grow lights, conveyors, sensors, and PLC communications modules.
Structural Upkeep:
Perform routine preventative inspections and repairs on greenhouse frames, glass/poly coverings, and benching.
Electrical & Systems:
Troubleshoot power distribution systems, lighting circuits, and basic wiring according to code.
Data Logging:
Utilize Maintenance Management Systems (MMS) to log labor hours, track spare parts inventory, and schedule preventative tasks.
Emergency Response:
React quickly to equipment failures or environmental alarms to prevent plant loss.
Safety Protocols:
Adhere strictly to OSHA standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety measures, and chemical handling procedures.
Qualifications & Candidate Profile Education:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent trade school credentials.
Experience:
5 years of technical facilities maintenance experience; industrial or commercial agricultural settings are highly preferred.
Technical Aptitude:
Strong working knowledge of commercial plumbing, commercial electrical systems (up to 480V 3-phase is a plus), and HVAC systems.
Schematics:
Ability to read and interpret blue prints, building layouts, and one-line electrical drawings.
Physical Demands:
Comfort working at heights (ladders/catwalks), lifting heavy, and working in warm, humid greenhouse environments.
Flexibility:
