A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.
The Seeds of Hope Farm Hand assists with day-to-day tasks to maintain the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center (FELC) greenhouse, gardens and farm stand using the mission and vision of the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center to guide their actions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Assists with daily garden maintenance including weeding, planting, watering, mulching, harvesting, and general upkeep of garden areas. 2. Assists with greenhouse activities including planting seeds, caring for seedlings, transplanting, and preparing plants for the garden or sale at the farm stand. 3. Assists with harvesting, cleaning, packaging, and preparing produce for sale at the farm stand. 4. Assists with maintaining the farm stand, including set-up, cleaning, organization, and assisting customers. 5. Assists FELC staff with the Downtown Tiffin Farmer's Market, including transporting produce, setting up and tearing down the stand, and assisting with sales. 6. Maintains cleanliness and organization of gardening tools, barn areas, storage areas, and supplies used in the greenhouse and gardens. 7. Assists with general farm and grounds maintenance, including raking, mulching, composting leaves and garden materials, and maintaining a safe and orderly work environment. 8. Works cooperatively and respectfully with FELC staff, volunteers, and individuals of varying abilities, skills, and experience levels to support the mission and programs of the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center. 9. Responsible for knowing and adhering to FELC safety procedures, including safe practices related to outdoor work, tools, equipment, and weather conditions. 10. Contributes to the overall success of FELC by performing all other related functions as requested.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical requirements described below represent the essential functions of the position. Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive gardening tasks. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to stand and work outdoors for extended periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive hand activities such as pulling weeds, planting, harvesting, and handling gardening tools.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Part time seasonal position requiring flexible hours to meet the needs of FELC Seasonal employment typically occurs March through October. Work is performed primarily outdoors in gardens, greenhouses, farm areas, and community spaces. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, cold temperatures, rain, and sun exposure. Employees are expected to follow FELC safety procedures, including those related to heat illness prevention, hydration, and outdoor work practices.
