Danville, PA United States Category Grower Industry Horticulture Manages Others No Experience Required Yes Degree Required No Employment Type Employee Work Schedule Full-Time Travel No Travel Job Description The Assistant Grower is responsible for the proper care and plant development in their designated area(s), including but not limited to the principles and practices of plant cultivation and quality of the work done on the crops. This position will also monitor and adjust processes to the best growing conditions for all crops as trained or directed by growing leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily assignments and priorities assigned by supervisor to maintain top health and quality of plants in your assigned area. Ensuring all necessary steps are taken to maintain top quality plants.
  • Perform tasks such as planting, watering, fertilizing, and pruning.
  • Monitor plant health, identify and address any pests, issues, or diseases.
  • Operate and maintain irrigation systems and other equipment.
  • Stay up to date on all training, as well as follow and enforce all safety policies and practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with and support other departments and managers, working as a team to accomplish a common goal. Job Requirements
  • Minimum of two years of working in a greenhouse environment is required.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and mixing fertilizers and other materials required.
  • Ability to retain mechanical understandings to operate and maintain equipment.
  • Familiarity with hand tools used in gardening and farming.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physical environment.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed.
