A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.

Job Description

Description:
This key position is responsible for the daily care, health, and maintenance of all newborn calves at the dairy. Each specialist is a vital member of a team dedicated to providing healthy a calf environment. This position provides hands-on experience in many of the following areas: loading in/out of animals, feeding animals, animal housing sanitation, and record keeping. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work with calves, a willingness to learn, a high level of dependability, a solid work history, and the ability to read, write, and understand English. This position offers training and the opportunity for advancement for high achieving employees.
Duties:
Daily milk and grain feedings to all young animals. Maintain and update all department records as required. Administer sanitation procedures for clean equipment and tools used by animals. Work as a team player by accomplishing daily department work requirements and farm goals. Complete and comprehend all training as directed by farm leadership. Do each task in a complete manner as trained by farm leadership. Maintain all bio-security standards. Uphold all safety regulations. Abide by all company policies, rules and safety regulations as directed on each site.
Qualifications:
Must be able to pass drug test.
Education:
High school diploma desired. Some college within an agriculture-based major is preferred.
Experience:
Previous livestock handling helpful, but not required.
Other:
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This job does require to work outdoors and the ability to walk throughout the shift. Display a high level of respect to team members and animals.
