A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.
Job Overview This position is meant to enable the owners, of a large plot of property, to develop the agriclutural output of the land. This would include animal management, growing, planting and agricultural institution and maintenance, maintenance and odd jobs on trailers, farm equipment, snow removal with use of owner's equipment and so on. This is a live on site position that includes the amenities of a 4 bedroom two bathroom apartment. Specific arrangements will be addressed at the time of interview. Interview will only be held after a backgroud and credit check. Responsibilities Assist with livestock handling and animal husbandry to ensure healthy animals and proper care standards. Support irrigation systems, greenhouse operations, and horticultural activities to promote crop growth and farm productivity. Conduct manual handling tasks such as lifting heavy loads, moving supplies, and installing fencing or other structures. Maintain safety standards in all production activities by following established protocols and using appropriate safety gear. Assist with general farm chores including feeding animals, cleaning facilities, repairing infrastructure, and supporting growing operations. Yard and orchard care and oversight. Providing a weekly meal or two for the owners. Assist owners with daily tasks as assigned. Experience Proven experience working outdoors in farming or ranching environments with a strong understanding of agricultural practices. Supervising experience is preferred to help coordinate team efforts during busy periods or large projects. Hands-on experience with livestock management including animal husbandry, livestock handling, and animal care is highly valued. Skilled in operating heavy equipment such as agricultural tractors, forklifts, power tools, and other farm machinery. Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair, maintenance of MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations), welding skills, and basic math for measurements and calculations. Familiarity with irrigation systems, greenhouse management, horticulture practices, and animal husbandry enhances your ability to contribute effectively. Knowledge of safety standards in production environments ensures a safe working space for yourself and your team.
