Job Description

The Madeira School is seeking a part-time Stable Hand to join its Riding Department. The facility, located in McLean, VA, supports a year-round comprehensive riding program, including approximately 36 school owned and boarder horses. This position will include weekday and weekend evening hours depending upon the needs of the school, and the anticipated schedule will be as follows: 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on either Saturday or Sunday.
Note:
Housing is NOT provided. Responsibilities include turning horses out, bringing horses in; feeding hay and grain; maintaining clean and plentiful water sources; changing blankets according to temperature; keeping stables tidy and organized; assisting in other stable and barn chores as needed, including sweeping, raking, picking stalls.
Requirements:
reliable, team player who is able to communicate well; safety-oriented individual; authorized to work in the United States for any employer; physical requirements: several hours of standing, kneeling, bending, climbing stairs, climbing ladders & walking; lifting and carrying 50 pounds, push/pull animals of 900 pounds or more; exposure to hot/cold, wet/humid weather conditions.

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
