A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.

Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Perform various farming tasks, including planting, cultivating, and harvesting wheat crops
  • Operate heavy equipment and farm machinery to prepare fields and maintain wheat crops
  • Practice animal husbandry techniques to care for cattle and ensure their well-being
  • Maintain and repair farm equipment and machinery as needed, must be able to weld
  • Utilize basic math skills to calculate measurements, quantities, etc.
  • Use power tools and hand tools to complete various tasks, including welding
  • Monitor weather conditions and adjust farming practices accordingly
  • Implement pest control measures to protect crops from damage
  • Other tasks as needed/required for the task at hand
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in row crop farming is required
  • Knowledge of agricultural practices and techniques for row crops
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and farm machinery safely and efficiently
  • Familiarity with animal husbandry(cattle) principles and practices
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and repairs, ability to weld is a must
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
  • Good communication skills to collaborate with other team members

Summary As a Farmer/Farmhand, you will support daily farming operations and animal care, reporting to the farm manager or supervisor. You will operate tractors and essential agricultural equipment, perform planting, harvesting, irrigation, and routine maintenance, and uphold safety standards across all tasks. With strong hands-on farming experience and mechanical know-how, you will contribute to efficient production, proper animal husbandry, and careful handling of crops and livestock. Your role is pivotal in maintaining productive, sustainable farm practices and a well-organized work environment.
Pay:
$17.50
