Job Description

About Us Join our production team at Latta Wines in Seattle's SODO district. Our small urban winery processes about 100 tons of fruit annually in Seattle proper, we work primarily with Rhône varietals (and Albariño!) from the most unique vineyards in Washington State. Our Winemaking Philosophy We emphasize traditional techniques, texture, and site expression. Our practices include native yeast fermentations, hand sorting, manual punchdowns, and whole-cluster fermentation, carbonic macerations, and skin contact. While we utilize a low-intervention ethos, we prioritize precision and quality over labels like "natural." The Role As a Harvest Assistant, you will work closely with our small team on all aspects of production from fruit arrival to barrel down.
Key Responsibilities:
Harvest Prep:
Sanitizing tanks, lines, and processing equipment.
Fruit Processing:
Sorting, de-stemming, and processing fruit.
Fermentation:
Executing manual punchdowns and pump-overs.
Cellar Operations:
Assisting with press cycles, rackings, and barreling down.
Sanitation:
Maintaining strict daily cellar cleanliness.
Qualifications Experience:
Previous harvest work is a plus, but restaurant industry experience translates perfectly to this pace.
Availability:
Ability to work full-time hours plus overtime. The grapes dictate our schedule, meaning long days during peak windows.
Age/Legal:
Must be at least 21 years old with legal U.S. work authorization.
Skills:
Strong communication in English; solid reading, writing, and basic math skills.
Safety:
Ability to strictly follow safety protocols and chemical SOPs.
Attributes:
Reliable, flexible, detail-oriented, and a positive team player.
Logistics:
Reliable transportation to our SODO facility.
Equipment:
Willingness to learn or operate forklifts, pumps, presses, and pallet jacks. Physical Requirements Ability to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends. Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights. Physical agility to stand, bend, twist, and climb for extended periods. Ability to perform strenuous tasks like manual punchdowns. Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to work safely with chemicals using proper PPE. Comfortable working on wet, uneven surfaces indoors and outdoors.
