The National Audubon Society is a leading nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to protecting birds and the places they need. The Conservation Ranching Manager works with ranchers, agencies, and conservation partners to coordinate the expansion and implementation of Audubon's Conservation Ranching (ACR) program in California. Reporting to the California Conservation Ranching Program Director, the Manager will assist with oversight and coordination of the program, including strategic planning, fundraising, partnership building and staff supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Engage, cultivate, and enrol ranchers into the ACR program and develop Habitat Management Plans (HMPs) benefiting priority grassland bird species.
• Provide technical assistance on regenerative grazing, holistic management, and conservation grazing; connect ranchers to technical and financial assistance programs.
• Build partnerships with NRCS, USFWS, Resource Conservation Districts, state agencies and conservation organizations.
• Conduct or coordinate bird monitoring, soil health monitoring, and other ecological monitoring on ACR ranches.
• Supervise regular and intern staff and contractors; manage project budgets, grant reporting, and third-party contracts.
• Seek funding sources and assist in preparing funding proposals; support ranch certification and market connections for the Audubon Certified Bird Friendly seal.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in range management, ecology, natural resources management, wildlife management, regenerative agriculture or a related field (Master's preferred); equivalent experience considered.
• At least five years of experience in project development/coordination, conservation planning or similar work.
• Experience with grassland conservation or rangeland management, California plant and bird identification, wildlife surveys, and GIS (Arc

GIS, GPS

).

• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license, ability to operate 4-wheel drive vehicles on unpaved rural roads, and ability to lift 50 lbs.

Hybrid preferred (Oakland, Palm Desert or Sacramento offices). Full time.

Salary:

$70,350

• 76,500/year (CA); $75,550
• 85,000/year (Oakland/SF).
