  • Job Summary
  • Primary Responsibilities
  • + Assist in developing and implementing maintenance schedules for Football Practice Facility, including fertility, irrigation, mowing, aerification, topdressing, overseeding, pest management, painting, field setup, and post-event recovery.
+ Support the Grounds Manager in maintaining athletic fields in accordance with NCAA, NFHS, professional league, conference, and institutional standards. + Coordinate daily field operations to ensure fields are safe, visually appealing, and prepared for practices, games, and special events. + Maintain regular communication with coaches, athletic administrators, event staff, and vendors regarding field conditions and operational needs. + Assist in the development and management of annual operating budgets, including monitoring labor, materials, equipment, and contracted service expenses. + Track and maintain accurate records of departmental expenditures, labor utilization, pesticide applications, fertilizer applications, irrigation activities, and inventory. + Coordinate Football Stadium setups and conversions, including game markings, logos, equipment placement, and post-event breakdown. + Assist in planning and executing Football Field renovation projects including sod replacement, laser grading, drainage improvements, irrigation upgrades, and turf establishment projects. + Support the development and implementation of emergency response plans for severe weather, natural disasters, and other operational disruptions. + Follow and enforce standard operating procedures, quality assurance standards, and departmental safety protocols. + Assist with training and supervising full-time, part-time, seasonal, and student employees in proper turf management practices, equipment operation, and workplace safety. + Promote and implement environmentally responsible turfgrass management practices utilizing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles and sustainable management practices. + Maintain detailed records of pest monitoring, pesticide applications, fertilizer applications, and regulatory compliance activities. + Operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on irrigation systems. + Assist with irrigation scheduling, system inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and water conservation efforts. + Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable local, state, federal, and institutional regulations. + Maintain continuing education credits and professional certifications through attendance at industry training programs, conferences, and educational events. + Serve as acting manager in the absence of the Grounds Manager when assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • + Associate's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, Sports Turf Management, or a closely related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred. + Minimum of three (3) years of athletic field, sports turf, golf course, or grounds management experience.
