1) Focus work efforts and activities in the vineyard on creating the best grape growing environment and conditions for producing high quality grapes and North Carolina wines. 2) Grow revenue & profitability through increased efficiency, better yields (tons per acre of grapes), effective spray programs, reduction of losses due to predation, vineyard mechanization, and containment of unnecessary or avoidable costs. 3) Provide support as needed in all facets of Round Peak Vineyards business, including the Vineyard & Winery, and in any other areas required.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead all vineyard related work and projects
- Supervise vineyard employees and temporary work crews.
- Define and manage an effective vineyard spray program and integrated pest management program
- Manage vineyard yields, communicate changes, and manage harvest
- Manage all changes to vineyard, and ensure optimal growth of all varietals
- Maintain vineyard grounds in excellent condition for grape production and customer perception
- Participate in vineyard expansion & winery projects
- Assist in winemaking activities as required. Lead efforts requested by Winemaker to ensure grape quality.
- Follow all Round Peak Process and Procedures, and help ensure other employees do as well This is primarily an year-round outdoor job, with a requirement to be able to work 8-10 hours in a standing position the majority of the time and to be able to lift 30 pounds.
