Job Description

We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and self-motivated Barn Manager to oversee the daily care, health, and operational management of our equine facility. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on horse care skills, excellent organizational ability, and great communication skills to interact with owner, staff, and equine professionals. Key Responsibilities Daily Equine Care & Management Manage daily feeding, watering, turn-out, and blanketing schedules tailored to individual horses. Monitor overall health, behavior, and condition of all horses on-site; provide immediate basic first aid when necessary. Administer medications and special supplements according to veterinary or owner instructions. Maintain clean, safe stalls, aisles, arenas, and common areas. Staff & Facility Operations Supervise, train, and schedule barn workers/grooms; assign daily responsibilities and verify task completion. Manage inventory and order feed, hay, bedding, and stable supplies to ensure stock never runs low. Inspect fences, stalls, pastures, and machinery regularly; report or perform minor routine maintenance. Ensure pastures are properly managed (mowing, rotation, manure management).
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
5+ years of horse care experience, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or barn management role.
Knowledge:
Understanding of equine nutrition, health, behavioral management, and pasture maintenance.
Machinery:
Experience operating basic farm machinery (tractors, dragging arenas) is preferred.
Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor when working with owner, staff and equine professionals.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (hay bales, feed bags) regularly and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
