GHD is looking for an experienced Water Treatment Plant Operations Manager to lead operations at a large-scale treatment facility supporting a major long-term environmental remediation program in northern New Mexico. This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys solving problems, building teams, and owning results. We're looking for a hands-on operator and leader. Someone who understands the realities of running a treatment facility, can develop and mentor staff, troubleshoot process issues, drive performance, and keep a complex operation running safely and compliantly every day. Why This Role Is Different Opportunity to lead a critical environmental treatment operation High level of ownership and autonomy Long-term project stability Ability to be based outside New Mexico with planned travel Direct influence on operations, team development, compliance, and performance Join a growing team supporting some of the most significant water treatment and remediation projects in North America What You'll Do Lead day-to-day operations of a 24/7 treatment facility Manage operations staff and compliance personnel Build a strong, accountable, team-oriented culture Ensure facility performance meets permit and regulatory requirements Lead commissioning, startup, optimization, and troubleshooting efforts Manage operational schedules, staffing plans, budgets, and resources Monitor and optimize treatment processes, including: Coagulation Lime softening Chemical precipitation Clarification Filtration Partner closely with client representatives, project managers, and technical teams Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, efficiency, and compliance Support long-term planning and operational strategy What We're Looking For 10+ years of experience in water, wastewater, industrial water, mine water, or environmental treatment operations Experience leading operations teams, supervisors, or plant personnel Strong understanding of chemical treatment processes and treatment plant operations Experience troubleshooting operational and process challenges Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, staffing, and performance metrics Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills Commitment to safety and environmental compliance Preferred Qualifications Commissioning or startup experience Water or wastewater operator certifications Experience supporting mining, industrial, or remediation projects OSHA 30 or similar safety training Professional Engineer (PE) license Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field Equivalent combinations of operational leadership experience, technical expertise, and industry certifications will be strongly considered.
