Job Description

About Area 2 Farms Area 2 Farms grows food inside the neighborhoods it feeds. We're a USDA Certified Organic, soil-based local farm headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.
Our mission is simple:
Move the Farm. Not the Food. We're building more than a single farm. We're building a network of neighborhood farms, local farmers, and communities that want fresher food and a closer relationship with how it's grown. Our farms make the story credible. Be a Farmer, our franchise business opportunity, invites the next generation of operators to bring the model to their own cities. The role This isn't a traditional job, and it isn't a cold-call sales job. You'll create the community, conversation, and demand that power our growth, then own the top of the funnel from first signal to qualified opportunity. The work is roughly 60 percent marketing and community growth, 40 percent sales and outreach. Within the sales work, the priority is roughly 70 percent new farm development and 30 percent local farm sales. You should be equally comfortable helping someone choose a community-supported agriculture (CSA) membership and talking with a serious prospect exploring a career change and significant investment in their future.
The standard is the same:
listen well, tell the truth, follow through, and help the right person take the next step. What you'll own: Creating the demand and executing our growth system. Capturing, editing, publishing, and adapting farm-led stories. Turning harvests, tours, partnerships, setbacks, and operating lessons into credible content. Turning strong questions into future content and strategies. Following up by phone, email, direct message, and video. Asking the right questions about city, timing, motivation, operating role, and readiness. Booking qualified discovery conversations and keeping every next step moving. Maintaining a clean, accurate pipeline. Do it all from real operating experience: Drive local sales across CSA memberships, microgreens, soil, the Farm Stand, and seasonal experiences. Lead tours and support community events, partnerships, and outreach. Build relationships with neighbors, members, chefs, schools, businesses, and local organizations. Help on the farm when needed. It's to understand the work and never stand above it.
What success looks like:
The content engine runs consistently without losing the reality of farm life. Relationships create visible proof. You know your numbers, own your commitments, and close loops. You may be a fit if you're:
High-agency:
you see what needs doing and move.
Commercial:
goals and variable pay energize you.
Excellent on the phone:
curious, direct, and unafraid to ask.
Coachable:
you want clear feedback and use it fast.
Creative and practical:
you can shoot a strong story and run a disciplined follow-up process.
Organized:
your relationships and commitments stay current.
Mission-driven:
you want to build something real in communities across the country.
Ready to show up:
early, late, indoors, outdoors, and wherever the moment requires. We hire for drive, energy, and results, not resume prestige or academic credentials. Helpful, not required: Sales or fundraising, social video and editing, hospitality, food retail or agriculture, event execution, customer service. A degree isn't required. Evidence that you can learn, sell, create, and follow through matters more. Email your resume to hello@area2farms.com and answer these three questions briefly: What's something you've sold, built, or persuaded people to join? What makes you want to help build a movement around neighborhood farms? Share one example of content, a project, or an event you made happen. A link is welcome but not required.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
Benefits:
Paid time off
Work Location:
In person
