Job Description Robot Barn Manager Summary:

The Robot Barn Manager is responsible for overseeing daily cow care, robotic milking operations, and team coordination within the robotic barn. This position supports herd health, milk production, robot efficiency, and cow comfort while leading employees and maintaining consistent daily operations within the robotic milking system.

Qualifications:

Dairy management or training in the dairy industry (two to five years) Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds and assisting with moving animals as needed. Must be able to be on their feet for extended periods (10-12 hours) and in all weather conditions. Strong work ethic and a team player. Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication skills.

Knowledgeable in:

Robotic milking systems and herd performance Herd health monitoring and treatment protocols Reproduction Record keeping and herd performance monitoring

Hours:

45-60 hours per week. Every other weekend on call for emergencies or covering shifts.

Primary Responsibilities:

Overseeing daily cow care, herd health monitoring, and robotic milking operations. Identifying and responding to sick, injured, or non-attending cows in a timely manner. Administering vaccinations, herd health protocols, and ultrasound pregnancy checks. Monitoring robot attendance, milk production, herd performance, and cow comfort within the robot barn. Coordinating daily team schedules, daily tasks, and labor coverage to maintain efficient barn operations. Leading and training the robot barn team on proper cow handling, robot procedures, and daily routines as well as performing employee reviews, coaching, and corrective action. Communicating with management and herd teams regarding herd performance and daily operations. Take night calls as needed for robot maintenance issues.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Reviewing herd health reports, treatment logs, and robot performance data. Identifying opportunities to improve labor efficiency, cow comfort, and barn performance. Support troubleshooting of robot-related cow issues, alarm monitoring and communicating concerns to the Robot Maintenance Manager and third party vendors. Communicating with the outside shop team to address any non-robot related maintenance issues. Maintaining clear communication with management regarding herd performance, labor needs, and operational concerns.

Work Relationship:

The Robot Barn Manager reports directly to the Herd Manager and works closely with the Herd Operations Specialist and Robot Maintenance Manager.

Pay:

$20.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 50.0 - 65.0 per week
