The position exists to produce rainbow trout and other cold water species and to manage the Lisboa Springs facility and personnel. How does it get done? Planning and implementing annual hatchery production. Evaluating daily production inventories to assess fish health and determine daily tasks for employees. Ensuring all tasks relative to production and fish distribution are completed. Participation in daily fish propagation activities. Prioritize daily tasks to ensure the most efficient use of available manpower. Provide recommendations to upper management where applicable. Manage the facility and personnel. Who are the customers? Minimum Qualification A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Fisheries Science/Management, Wildlife Science/Management, Forestry, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture Science, Range Management, Environmental Science or Zoology and four (4) years of professional level experience in fisheries or wildlife management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Requires acquisition of a Commercials Drivers License Class B and a Water Operators Certification Level 1. Working Conditions The duties of this position are divided between an office environment (60%) and (40%) consists of lifting weight in excess of 50 pounds, bending, standing, and operating machinery. This position also requires receiving and maintaining a commercial driver's license (Class B) to drive certain vehicles on the facility. Also may occasionally require overnight travel and working in inclement conditions. This position is considered Safety Sensitive and random drug testing is required. The position also requires the employee to work standby duty which will require the employee to remain on the facility continuously (24 hours) for 7 (seven) consecutive scheduled days.
