Job Description

Reef Aquaria Design is an industry leading company with over 50 years of experience designing, building, and maintaining some of the country's best custom reef aquariums. With a 24,000 sq ft facility and iconic sister companies like Chemi-pure, Jellyfish Art and Deltec USA we mean business. We are looking for a passionate individual to add to our Aquaculture team that knows their ins and outs of live coral reef aquariums and is methodical and consistent in their work. The Coral and Jellyfish Aquaculture technician will work under the Director of Aquaculture and within the aquaculture division. The position covers marine life and aquacultured corals destined to go in our luxury custom aquarium accounts.
Core Responsibilities:
Responsible for following strict aquaculture/maintenance protocols. Responsible for the daily and scheduled cleaning, maintenance, animal husbandry, and all other required measures to maintain a healthy, thriving, and beautiful aquarium and aquaculture systems. Maintain aquarium life support systems. Monitor and maintain water quality parameters. Maintain detailed records for each system in the form of reports, photos & videos. General coral, fish and invertebrate care. Coral propagation and grow out. Coral pest treatments and quarantine. Fish quarantine and treatments. Identify possible mechanical/biological issues proactively. Packing of marine organisms.
Requirements:
Must have experience with coral reef aquariums and coral propagation. Must fully understand aquarium water chemistry and maintain proper levels among various systems. Knowledgeable in different coral species and their individual requirements. Knowledge of marine pests. Experience with marine aquarium equipment including reactors and Apex monitoring systems. Must have excellent team-oriented communication skills. Aquaculture and/or Marine Biology degree is a plus.
