Job Description
Hiring for both seasonal and year-round work on an oyster farm. Farm locations are in Falmouth and Orleans, but morning meeting location to leave for farms in work vehicles will always be Pocasset, or occasionally Wareham. Farm work is Monday-Friday 7am-3pm, and rarely 8am-4pm. Never weekends and never any nights. Farm work includes, sorting oysters for sale, conducting oyster sales to wholesalers, maintaining biofouling on gear, deployed seed oysters in nursery locations. Boating experience a plus, but not necessary. During the spring and fall there is work at our marinas, which includes launching and hauling boats, bottom painting and shrink wrapping in the fall. All employees are expected to assist with marina activities during the spring and fall when oyster farming is less than 40 hours/week. Must be comfortable on boats/skiffs. All farming locations are in protected bays, and in shallow water, but boating a short distance (<15 min) to the farm location each day is required. Work is outdoors at all times, must be comfortable working in rain and/or sunny conditions. Any hazardous conditions such as lightning storms or high winds work will be on land for that day instead. Must be comfortable working in a small team (2-4 people), must be able to lift 50 lbs. We will provide gloves and all training, applicant must supply boots and Grundens-style working pants/bibs/oilers. Must be able to work from now through a minimum of December if applying for part-time.
