Job Description

The Chalet Attendant safely operates the toboggan chutes while providing excellent guest service and ensuring the safety of guests. Assists guests in and out of toboggans while exhibiting excellent customer service. Monitors activities on and near the ride. Activates emergency response team as needed for medical or emergency situations. Effectively uses two-way radios for routine and emergency communication. Enforces facility/safety rules with attention to guest safety, conduct, and equipment, including assisting guests on and off ride, adhering to height restrictions, explaining safety procedures, and assisting with placement of guests onto the ride. Performs unskilled and as capable, semi-skilled work of a routine and repetitive nature in a responsible manner such as general cleaning and maintenance of the ride, including snow and ice removal of stairs, platforms, and landings. Assists with general ice maintenance of toboggan chutes and grounds. Performs routine general cleaning and maintenance duties of building and grounds which includes restrooms, public areas, Chalet grounds, snack bar, and storage areas. Performs daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment including toboggans, tractors, vehicles, facility, and grounds. Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns. Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel. Safely inspects and operates all equipment. Provides first aid treatment for park patrons and staff as necessary. Performs related duties as assigned or apparent. Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
Requirements:
Valid driver's license under the laws of the state of Ohio required. CPR/ First Aid Certification preferred. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, special events and evenings as required. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Must exhibit excellent customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to exhibit teamwork approach that recognizes contribution of all employees. Demonstrated ability to perform variable physical requirements of ride operations for Toboggan Chutes during public and private rental operations. Ability to stand, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis. Ability to operate general park maintenance equipment such as snow removal and cleaning tools including snow shovels, brooms, ice chippers, handheld and backpack blowers, and a log splitter; and janitorial equipment including vacuums and general cleaning tools. Ability to operate other equipment safely and effectively as assigned such as toboggan lift, utility vehicles, tractors and/or wagons. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public. Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings. Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.

Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
