May work for large commercial or private operations to catch and sell fish to local and/or international markets. Some are deckhands and boat operators for recreational charter fishing trips.
Osage Nation Ranch, LLC, is seeking candidates for a
RANCH HAND
for our ranch located west of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Established in 2016, Osage Nation Ranch LLC, is responsible for managing the 43,000-acre cattle/bison operation of the Osage Nation. The position of Ranch Hand is supervised by the Ranch Manager. Position Summary The Ranch Hand is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day care, handling, and management of cattle and the overall operation of the ranch. This is a hands-on position requiring a strong work ethic, dependability, horsemanship, and a willingness to work outdoors in all types of weather. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work cattle on horseback and on foot, including gathering, sorting, processing, doctoring, and moving cattle. Assist with routine cattle health and herd management activities. Feed and provide water to livestock as needed. Monitor cattle for illness, injury, calving issues, or other health concerns and report concerns to ranch management. Assist with cattle receiving, shipping, loading, and unloading operations. Assist with branding, vaccinations, pregnancy checking, weaning, and other seasonal cattle operations. Maintain and care for horses used in ranch operations. Saddle, handle, and ride horses safely and responsibly. Maintain fences, gates, corrals, working pens, water systems, and other ranch infrastructure. Operate and maintain ranch equipment, trucks, trailers, tractors, ATVs/UTVs, and other machinery as assigned. Assist with pasture rotation, grazing management, haying, feeding, and other livestock-related activities. Keep ranch facilities, working areas, equipment, and vehicles clean and orderly. Assist with maintenance and repairs around the ranch. Follow safe cattle-handling practices and ranch safety procedures. Maintain accurate records related to livestock, equipment, feed, treatments, and other ranch activities as directed. Assist ranch management and other employees with special projects and seasonal work. Represent Osage Nation Ranch in a professional and respectful manner. Perform other duties as assigned by the Ranch Manager. Qualifications Required Previous experience working with cattle or on a working ranch. Ability to safely handle and work around livestock. Ability and willingness to work horseback. Ability to work long hours and variable schedules during busy ranch seasons. Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and other weather conditions. Valid driver's license and dependable transportation. Ability to safely operate ranch equipment and vehicles. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required. Strong work ethic and dependable attendance. Willingness to follow direction and established ranch procedures. Preferred Strong horsemanship and extensive cattle-handling experience. Experience with cow-calf operations. Experience with calving, branding, processing, and shipping cattle. Experience operating tractors, trailers, UTVs, ATVs, and other ranch equipment. Experience with fence and facility maintenance. Basic livestock health and treatment knowledge. Welding, mechanical, or general ranch repair skills. CDL or experience pulling livestock trailers. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to: Ride and work from horseback for extended periods. Walk significant distances over uneven terrain. Lift and carry equipment, feed, supplies, and other materials. Safely mount and dismount horses and operate ranch equipment. Work in corrals, pens, pastures, and other livestock areas. Perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods. Respond appropriately to unpredictable livestock behavior. Work safely around large animals, vehicles, machinery, fencing, and other ranch hazards. Compensation & Benefits This is a full-time position located on the ranch west of Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
