Immerse yourself in outdoor environmental projects and cultivate connection to the Northwest, your teammates, and the unique ecological features that define our region. The Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) is an AmeriCorps program that supports young adults (ages 18-25) and military veterans as they jumpstart their careers in the environmental field. We support more than 350 AmeriCorps members and experienced staff statewide who restore critical habitat, build recreational trails, and respond to local and national disasters. All members earn a biweekly living allowance and an AmeriCorps Education Award once they successfully complete a term. For the 2026-2027 season, members will earn a living allowance of $1,476

• issued twice a month.

•Members with positions based in King, Snohomish, and Clark counties are eligible for a location-based elevated living allowance of $1,609 issued twice a month. Benefits for all members include health insurance, access to the Member Assistance Program (accessible and quality mental health services), and three weeks of paid, professional training. Most of our AmeriCorps positions are 11-month field-crew positions where members serve on a crew of five, led by a WCC crew supervisor. We offer limited nine-month and three-month positions in spring and summer. We also offer 11-month Individual Placement positions, where members serve independently with natural resources organizations.

Member Duties :

This restoration crew serves with Tulalip Tribes on a combination of public, private, and Tribal lands ranging from small spawning creeks to large river floodplains and estuaries. The crew meets at the Hibulb Cultural Center in Tulalip, Washington. Projects include planting native vegetation, installing live stakes, protecting plants with elk and/or beaver exclusion fencing, and maintaining old project sites from invasive species in fall and winter. In spring and summer this crew completes projects such as conducting site surveys, vegetation monitoring, engaging in integrated pest management, conducting fish seining, green crab monitoring, and culvert fish passage assessments. The crew utilizes herbicides and power tools (chain saws, brush cutters, etc.) on projects. This crew will likely serve in areas with high environmental health disparities.
