Overview The Town of Palmer Board of Health is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a temporary, part-time Public Health Inspector for Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27). The successful candidate will assist the Health Department with routine inspections, complaint investigations, and enforcement of applicable state and local public health regulations. Duties Conduct routine food establishment and housing inspections. Investigate public health complaints and document filings. Identify violations of applicable state and local health regulations. Prepare inspection reports, notices of violations, and related documentation. Conduct follow-up inspections to verify compliance. Assist the Health Agent with other public health inspections and departmental duties as assigned. Experience Successful completion of Massachusetts Public Health Inspector Training (PHIT) in both Housing and Food is required. Working knowledge of the Massachusetts State Sanitary Code and applicable food safety regulations. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, business owners, and municipal officials. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prepare accurate inspection reports. Valid driver's licens and reliable transportation. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement in the field.
