Pay:
$18.00-$24.00 per hour, based on experience Job Summary Midland Standard Engineering & Testing, Inc. is seeking a dependable and hardworking Field Laborer to join our field operations team. This is a hands-on outdoor position involving physical labor, equipment setup, soil sampling, equipment maintenance, and support. Most projects are located throughout the Chicagoland area, with occasional travel required. The ideal candidate has experience in construction, excavation, utilities, landscaping, equipment operation, or another outdoor labor position. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions and performing physically demanding work. Responsibilities Set up and break down equipment at project sites Load, unload, organize, and maintain tools and materials Handle rods, augers, sampling tools, and related field equipment Assist with collecting, labeling, and organizing soil and rock samples Maintain a clean and organized work area, truck, and equipment Perform basic equipment inspections and routine maintenance Follow company safety procedures and jobsite requirements Communicate effectively with crew members and project staff Travel to local jobsites and occasional out-of-town projects Perform additional field-related duties as assigned Qualifications Previous outdoor construction or general labor experience preferred Experience in excavation, utilities, landscaping, concrete, equipment operation, or similar work Ability to lift and carry approximately 50-75 pounds Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions Ability to stand, bend, climb, push, pull, and perform physical labor throughout the workday Dependable attendance and willingness to report early when required Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of a crew Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record preferred Willingness to work overtime and travel occasionally CDL or construction equipment experience is a plus but not required Work Schedule This is a full-time position. Start and end times may vary depending on project schedules, weather, travel requirements, and jobsite conditions. Early mornings and overtime may be required during busy periods.
