Job Description

The Sullivan County Natural Resources Department is seeking a Field Technician to assist with land management and public programs. Sullivan County owns nearly 2,200 acres on 6 properties, all located in Unity, NH. County lands are diverse, with extensive forests, fields, ponds, wetlands, and working farmland. Job Responsibilities (may include some to all of the following): Trail maintenance Boundary line reconnaissance and maintenance Possible construction of a food processing facility Coordination of the Public Cidery Landscaping/tree work other outdoor work identified by Natural Resources staff
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Ability to work outdoors in rough conditions including heat, rain, and rugged terrain Ability to use hand tools to perform physically demanding tasks Ability to navigate with map and compass in remote locations Ability to work independently with little supervision Familiarity with natural resources, forest management and/or farming Communication and organizational skills. Ability to oversee volunteers and assist the public. Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and vehicle insurance
Commitment:
Up to 30 hours per week, depending on the weather. Position is open now and will continue until November. Applicants must be able to commit to working for the entire season. Indoor work may also be possible in the winter depending on the skills of the applicant and available funding.
