00/hour (based on qualifications and experience) Position Summary The Conservation and Park Technician is a key position dedicated to advancing the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District's commitment to conservation, environmental stewardship, and high-quality park maintenance. This role leads efforts in natural resource management, trail construction and maintenance, habitat restoration, and sustainable grounds care. The Technician also supports athletic field upkeep and park facility maintenance, while providing leadership to seasonal field crews and collaborating with community partners to promote healthy, resilient ecosystems and safe, enjoyable outdoor spaces. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead natural resource conservation projects, including invasive species control, native plant restoration, and erosion management. Perform trail construction, repair, and ongoing maintenance to ensure safe and accessible pathways. Implement and promote sustainable landscaping and turf management practices aligned with environmental stewardship goals. Maintain athletic fields and support their safe use by coordinating with local athletic organizations. Operate and maintain a variety of heavy and light equipment safely and effectively, including trucks, mowers, and skid steers. Inspect and maintain park infrastructure such as shelters, restrooms, fences, signage, and trail amenities. Train, mentor, and supervise seasonal maintenance staff, fostering teamwork and skill development. Respond to weather events, emergencies, and seasonal maintenance needs including snow removal and storm cleanup. Adhere strictly to safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safety in all park operations. Minimum Qualifications Secondary education in Natural Resource Management or similar field and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in park maintenance, conservation, landscaping, or trail work. Proven ability to operate heavy equipment and maintenance vehicles safely. Valid Ohio Driver's License Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with community groups. Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Experience with ecological restoration, trail building, or land management techniques. Knowledge of native plant communities, habitat enhancement, and sustainable land care practices. Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 12 months. Certifications (or ability to obtain certifications) such as:
- Ohio Commercial Pesticide Applicator License
- Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI)
