A Forest or Conservation Technician works with foresters and conservation scientists to help maintain forests and natural areas. Tracks data on water, soil, disease and insect damage in forest areas; tracks wildlife and maintain trails or campsites; monitors timber and logging activity; patrols and assists with forest fire prevention measures; provides information to the public on forest or natural areas conservation .

Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Job Foreman or Project Manager
- Perform various physical duties as assigned.
- Maintain a commitment to health and safety.
- Move, secure, install, build, load, or unload materials.
- Move tools, equipment, or other material as directed in plans or by supervisor.
- Perform some specialized tasks which may require on-the job training. Depending on the specific project, this may include: o Collection of rock and soil samples for geochemical analysis o Relocation and organization of geologic samples, drill core, supplies or equipment.
- Ancillary duties as requested by the owner or the acting Project Manager as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Attentive to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety.
- Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds, working outdoors in all weather conditions, traversing uneven rugged terrain, etc.)
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, zoom-booms, telehandlers, and loaders
- Ability to travel to and live in primitive remote work sites for up to 6 weeks.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; higher education is an asset.
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment in off-road environments.
- Experience in exploratory geology, mining, or rock/soil sampling is an asset, but not necessary.
- Experience in mountaineering and/or rock climbing is an asset, but not necessary.
