Extended Day Mentor (POSTED 09/21/26) At Island Pacific Academy, values come first. Island Pacific Academy is looking for an Extended Day Mentor to help assist with the after school Extended Day Program. Extended Care Mentor will assist the Extended Day Supervisor with the implementation of a quality after school program that enriches the students socially, emotionally, and physically. Mentors will maintain a safe and educational learning environment for children in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade by successfully implementing the daily program activities. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, lead and supervise students in afternoon activities such as arts and crafts or quiet games. Provide opportunities for students to quietly work on homework. Supervise outdoor play. Supervises all indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety at all times. Maintain a safe and healthy educational and play environment. Maintains a professional and positive attitude. Greets parents and ensures appropriate child sign-in procedures are completed. Sign children out when dismissed from the classroom. Treats all children with dignity and respect. Helps to maintain a clean and organized classroom. Acts as representative of Island Pacific Academy and demonstrates the core values of the school.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE

Experience working with elementary school aged children. Must be at least 18 years of age. Possess a basic knowledge and understanding of school aged children. Ability to follow written and oral directions. Possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Self starter and ability to perform the job with little supervision. Students in higher education coursework related to education preferred. Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive, and be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the School's program and philosophy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

Work environment includes standing, sitting and moving around regularly in both an indoor air conditioned and outdoor, hot and humid environment. Regular lifting up to 15 lbs. The noise level of the position can occasionally be moderate or high during school events or outdoor activities. Typical working hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between 2:30-5:30 PM, and Wednesday between 1:45-5:30 PM. Actual hours may vary based on scheduling needs.
