Job Description
The Master Gardener provides basic care for the greenhouse, and basic landscaping around the Salina West Campus. Ensures that basic care for the greenhouse and maintains a safe environment in the facility. Coaches and mentors, the client while they are working with plants. Provides structure, discipline, and security in meeting the needs of the clients while they are working with the plants and landscaping around the campus. Irrigates, mows, rakes, and trims lawns and/or athletic fields. Plants, transplants, fertilizes, applies chemicals, waters, prunes, and weeds flower beds and plant areas. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Serves as an adult role model and a source of feedback to the clients. Intervenes in crisis situations using the approved Mandt system. Reports to work at scheduled times and remains on duty until end of shift. Documents significant behaviors and significant contact with client. Ensures that the horse barns; stables; and training areas are clean and free of any hazardous materials. Perform assigned cleaning or maintenance duties. Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state and local rules, statutes, regulations, and all contractual terms. Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels. Ensures clients' rights are protected. Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.
