Job Description
Commercial Tannery for the taxidermy industry is seeking reliable, detail-oriented workers. We currently have openings for Hide Shavers at our Mecosta, MI location. As part of the process of turning animal hides into leather for taxidermy mounting purposes, a Hide Shaver is responsible for thinning down a wide variety of exotic animal hides from around the world using a Round Knife (fleshing machine). You must be able to lift up to 50lbs throughout the day. You must be able to work repetitively with your hands for 8-10 hrs per day. Must be reliable, able to pay attention and have own transportation. Starting wage $17.00/Hr. Wage negotiable for experienced applicants. You will get wet, you will get dirty in this position, but it is a skilled trade, and your pay will increase significantly as you gain experience and speed while maintaining the highest level of quality. Work hours are Mon-Thur. 5:00AM-3:30PM. We offer Paid Time off,
