Job Description

Seeking a caring educator for our remarkable students! At Laraway, we know that autistic students and children with complex needs shine in extraordinary ways. Our school is a small, comfortable environment where they are understood, supported, and celebrated. If that resonates with you, you may be exactly who we're hoping to welcome. We're looking for an Elementary Educator who is passionate about working with small groups and individual learners, collaborating closely with special educators and behavioral support staff, and creating a safe, engaging, trauma‑informed classroom. In this role, you will: Design and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned lessons tailored to individual student needs Collaborate with teachers, clinicians, and behavior interventionists to support student growth Implement positive behavior supports and therapeutic, relationship‑based approaches Track and communicate student progress through data, assessments, and team collaboration Participate in school programs, professional development, and family‑centered care planning What we're looking for: Teaching licensure or a bachelor's degree with adequate subject matter credits and teaching experience, and working toward licensure. Professional experience supporting autistic children or students with complex needs (2 years) A compassionate, flexible, and team‑oriented mindset Ability to support students' physical, emotional, and academic needs Why Laraway? Work/Physical Requirements Given the at-risk population served, the position requires ongoing training and preparedness in the execution of physical restraint techniques. This may require running to catch a student. The "Handle with Care" program specifies that individuals with back and neck limitations are likely to be hampered in the execution of the protocols and greatly increases risk of harm to self or student. Ability to engage with youth in a variety of activities ranging from art, music, cooking and physical activities such as walking, hiking, swimming, and other outdoor sports. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. •
