Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate crew activities related to lawn care, landscape maintenance, and groundskeeping operations. Conduct plant identification to maintain healthy horticultural practices and recommend appropriate plantings for seasonal changes. Operate grounds maintenance equipment safely and efficiently, including mowers, trimmers, irrigation tools, and company vehicles. Oversee tree care activities such as pruning, removal, or health assessments to promote safety and aesthetic appeal. Ensure compliance with safety standards during outdoor work and construction projects on cemetery grounds. Lead and motivate a team of groundskeepers by providing training in landscaping techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, project progress, and equipment inventory. Collaborate with other departments on construction projects to support seamless integration of landscaping or hardscape features. Skills Extensive outdoor work experience with grounds maintenance, landscaping, lawn care, and horticulture practices. Proven supervising experience with team management skills that foster a collaborative work environment. Strong knowledge of plant identification, tree care techniques, irrigation management, and landscape design principles. Ability to operate groundskeeping equipment safely and efficiently; experience with grounds maintenance and landscaping equipment operation is essential. Construction experience related to hardscape installation or construction projects is highly desirable. Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to manage crew schedules, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure quality standards are met. Skilled in gardening practices with a focus on ground preservation and aesthetic enhancement. Knowledge of safety protocols for outdoor work environments including equipment operation and hazardous material handling. Valid driver's license with experience operating company vehicles required; familiarity with irrigation systems is a plus. Strong organizational skills for record keeping related to maintenance activities and project documentation.
