The Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily landscape maintenance and/or enhancement crews in the field. This position ensures that crews perform work safely, efficiently, professionally, and according to customer expectations and company standards.
The Field Supervisor serves as the primary field-level leader between the Division Manager and crew members and is responsible for coordinating people, equipment, materials, schedules, and job-site activities. Essential ResponsibilitiesField Operations Supervise and coordinate daily activities of landscape crews. Assign employees to jobs and ensure crews have the necessary equipment, materials, and instructions. Monitor job progress and productivity throughout the day. Ensure landscape services are performed according to company specifications and customer expectations. Inspect completed work and address quality issues promptly. Communicate changes in job conditions, schedules, or customer requirements to the Division Manager. Assist with estimating labor, materials, and equipment needs when requested. Coordinate with other supervisors and departments to ensure efficient operations. Employee Supervision Directly supervise field employees and provide day-to-day leadership. Train employees on proper work procedures, equipment use, safety requirements, and company expectations. Monitor attendance, punctuality, productivity, and job performance. Provide coaching and corrective feedback when appropriate. Report employee performance, attendance, conduct, and disciplinary issues to the Division Manager/HR in accordance with company procedures. Support new-hire orientation and field training. Safety & Compliance Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements. Conduct or participate in daily safety meetings/toolbox talks. Ensure employees use required PPE and operate equipment properly. Immediately report workplace injuries, accidents, property damage, and safety concerns. Conduct job-site inspections and correct unsafe conditions. Ensure vehicles, trailers, machinery, and equipment are properly maintained and used safely. Customer Service Maintain professional relationships with customers while working on-site. Respond to routine customer questions and concerns. Escalate complaints or significant customer issues to the Division Manager. Ensure crews maintain a professional appearance and represent the company appropriately. Equipment & Materials Ensure trucks, trailers, machinery, tools, and equipment are properly maintained. Report damaged or unsafe equipment. Coordinate loading and unloading of equipment and materials. Monitor appropriate use of company property. Administrative Responsibilities Complete daily crew/job documentation accurately and timely. Review and submit employee time records according to company procedures. completion, delays, weather issues, equipment problems, and other operational matters. Assist management with productivity and labor tracking. Qualifications 2+ years of landscaping, landscape maintenance, construction, or related field experience preferred. Previous supervisory or crew-lead experience preferred. Knowledge of landscape maintenance practices, equipment, and materials. Ability to lead and motivate a field workforce. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred depending on workforce needs. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors for extended periods. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb. Ability to lift and carry materials/equipment as required. Ability to operate and work around landscape equipment safely.
