Job Description

Keep every property looking immaculate, year-round Picture the person who keeps a championship golf course flawless: clean-cut turf, sharp seasonal beds, crisp edges, nothing overgrown, snow cleared before anyone asks. That is the standard we want on every property we manage. Puffin Property Management cares for roughly 120 apartments and 20-plus commercial spaces across Brunswick, Portland/Falmouth, Springvale, and Lewiston, and we are hiring a hands-on Grounds & Beautification Manager to own how they look and function outdoors. This is a working leadership role. You are out on the properties most days, doing the work and leading a small in-house crew to a high bar. Landscaping and curb appeal in the warm months, snow and ice management in winter, great-looking grounds all year. What you will do Mow, trim, edge, mulch, plant, prune, and run seasonal cleanups across the portfolio, and set the maintenance schedule that keeps every site sharp.
Own curb appeal:
entrances, beds, common areas, and seasonal plantings that make residents proud and help lease units faster.
Manage snow and ice:
plowing, shoveling, salting and sanding, and keeping walkways and lots safe during and after storms (early mornings, nights, and weekends when it snows). Lead and develop the grounds crew plus any seasonal hires, setting the daily plan and checking the quality of the work. Keep mowers, trimmers, plows, and equipment maintained, safe, and ready for each season. Scope and manage outside vendors for large jobs (tree work, major hardscaping, heavy snow overflow) and hold them to your standard. Plan the season and give clear input on grounds and snow costs. What we are looking for 3+ years in landscaping, grounds, or turf management, with at least 1 year leading or coordinating a crew. Real snow and ice management experience and a willingness to be first out when it storms. Comfortable operating and maintaining commercial grounds and snow equipment (zero-turn and riding mowers, trimmers, plow trucks, spreaders). Heavy equipment experience preferred. Valid Maine driver's license and a clean enough record to drive company vehicles between sites. Able to lift, bend, kneel, and work long days outdoors in Maine weather, hot and cold. A real eye for detail and pride in how a property looks. Golf course, resort, campus, or sports turf background is a big plus, because that is the standard we are after. Nice to have Maine pesticide applicator license, or willingness to earn one. Irrigation, hardscaping, or arborist experience. Experience managing seasonal or vendor crews. Bilingual a plus.
