Summary The Athletic Fields and Grounds Supervisor oversees the maintenance, preparation, and safe operation of the City's athletic fields, grounds, and related facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring City athletic fields, grounds, and related facilities are maintained in excellent playing condition, coordinating daily field operations, supervising assigned staff, and supporting rentals, special events, and tournaments. The role requires strong leadership, knowledge of athletic field maintenance practices, and the ability to work flexible hours. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; however, other duties may be assigned. Oversees daily maintenance and operations of City athletic fields, grounds and related facilities; Supervises and coordinates assigned staff engaged in athletic fields and grounds maintenance; Maintains athletic fields in safe and playable condition, including turf areas, skinned infields, pitching mounds, batter's boxes, bases and transition areas; Performs and directs mowing, trimming, edging, topdressing, overseeding, turf repair, field striping, and general turf management; Applies fertilizers, soil conditioners, and approved treatment products in accordance with safety and operational standards; Coordinates with the Parks and Recreation Supervisor to ensure preparation of athletic fields, grounds, and facilities for practices, games, tournaments, and special events; Determines field playability and evaluates field conditions following inclement weather; Ensures athletic fields are properly set and maintained for scheduled use; Performs and oversees athletic facility setup and cleanup, including restrooms, fencing, common areas, parking lots, and related amenities; Inspects athletic facilities, grounds, and equipment to identify safety concerns and maintenance needs; Coordinates repair or replacement of damaged equipment and field infrastructure; Maintains inventory of field equipment, supplies, and materials; orders items as needed; Assists with budget planning related to athletic fields and grounds maintenance, including projected expenditures; Operates. trains, and oversees the guidance, and work assignments for athletic fields and grounds maintenance staff; Responds to urgent operational needs, weather-related issues, and special maintenance requests; Assists with snow plowing in the City's parks when assigned; Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed; and Other related duties as assigned.
