Job Description

Cherokee Valley Golf Club is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Head Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and management of the golf course, grounds, and associated facilities. The Head Superintendent will manage a team of 10-20 staff, oversee all turf management operations, and report directly to the General Manager. Cherokee Valley Golf Club is a semi-private 18-hole championship golf facility located in Olive Branch, MS, just across the state line from Memphis, TN. We offer a welcoming atmosphere for golfers of all skill levels. Our course features Champion Bermuda greens and zoysia fairways, along with a driving range, 2 putting greens, chipping green, and practice bunker. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional conditions for our guests, making it a great place to work and play. Job Description/Duties Oversee daily golf course maintenance, ensuring exceptional turf quality and playability of the course and practice facilities. Manage and supervise a team of 10-20 full-time and seasonal staff members. Recruit, interview, and hire capable individuals. Ensure the proper use and maintenance of all equipment; recommend and oversee necessary equipment purchases. Utilize the Toro Lynx irrigation system Maintain records related to chemical applications (including but not limited to fertilizer, insecticide, & fungicide) and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Maintain a budget for course maintenance. Coordinate course maintenance schedules around tournaments and events, ensuring course readiness. Uphold safety and operational standards for all course operations. Collaborate with the General Manager to create and implement long-term course management strategies. Previous experience as a Head Superintendent preferred but not required; Assistant Superintendents with strong leadership skills are encouraged to apply. Working knowledge of running, repairing and installing irrigation Mississippi Pesticide Applicator Certification required within 60 days of hire. Valid Drivers License Familiarity with Toro Lynx irrigation system is a plus but not required. Strong knowledge of turfgrass management practices, specifically ultradwarf Bermuda and Zoysia varieties. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs. Detail-oriented with a passion for maintaining course quality. Educational Requirements The ideal candidate will posses a 2 or 4 year degree in Agronomy, Turf Management, or related field, or a Turfgrass Management Certificate from an accredited University.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
