A Landscaping or Grounds Supervisor supervises the staff that provide landscaping for residences, parks, public gardens, college campuses or building or office park grounds. Supervises work to care for plants and trees, including mowing, trimming and planting, and work to repair driveways, walks, benches or other structures. Oversees equipment maintenance and transportation, and communicates with residential customers.

Job Description

The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of multiple campus locations in regard to grounds/landscape at Rowan/Cabarrus College Campuses. Responsibilities will include supervision of staff, vendors and contracts. Including physical duties such as mowing; trimming; removing weeds; operating a leaf blower, lawn mower, and other maintenance equipment; picking up trash; applying herbicides and pesticides; monitoring and adjusting irrigation systems; performing routine maintenance on grounds equipment; installing landscaping materials; and maintaining related records. Will oversee work activities of assigned workers and vendors. Ability to work flexible hours as night and weekend work may be required to meet deadlines or emergency responses. Associate degree in Horticulture, Grounds and Turf Management or closely related field, and eight (8) years of experience in grounds-keeping activities; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Active SCM inspection & maintenance certifications, pesticide applicators license or ability to obtain certifications within one year of employment.
