This position serves as the primary field leader for the crew and is responsible for ensuring that work is completed according to Rock Shelter's standards for Quality, Communication, Accountability, and Teamwork. The Crew Leader is expected to lead by example, maintain strong relationships with clients and team members, identify issues in the field, and communicate effectively with the Maintenance Manager. Duties Perform and oversee mowing, string trimming, edging, blowing, bed maintenance, weeding, pruning and trimming, plant care, mulching, seasonal cleanups, leaf removal, and other assigned services. Ensure proper horticultural practices are followed. Recognize plant health issues, irrigation problems, pest or disease concerns, and property deficiencies and report them to management. Identify opportunities for additional work and communicate potential enhancement opportunities to the Maintenance Manager. Read and review the daily schedule, work orders, special instructions, and client expectations before leaving the shop. Lead and direct a landscape maintenance crew in the completion of daily work. Ensure the crew is properly staffed, equipped, and prepared for the day. Assign responsibilities to crew members and monitor productivity throughout the day. Train and develop less-experienced employees in proper landscape maintenance practices. Maintain a professional, positive, and respectful work environment. Hold crew members accountable for performance, attendance, safety, and quality of work. Communicate staffing, scheduling, or performance issues to the Maintenance Manager. Inspect completed work before leaving each property. Respond professionally to client questions or concerns. Ensure equipment is cleaned, fueled, maintained, and properly stored. Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately. Ensure trucks and trailers are loaded properly and safely. Maintain accountability for tools, equipment, materials, and supplies assigned to the crew. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in professional landscape maintenance preferred. Previous crew leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of landscape maintenance practices. Ability to safely operate commercial landscape equipment. Ability to identify common plant health and irrigation issues. Valid driver's license required. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, and management. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently while following company direction. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.
