Position Summary This position leads Summit Landscape's irrigation and chemical programs across our maintenance and install portfolio. The successful candidate will own two core areas:

Irrigation:

keeping every property's system running efficiently through inspections, repairs, smart controller management, water conservation and installation.

Chemical & Plant Health:

planning and performing fertilization, weed, pest, and disease control applications safely, legally, and on schedule. This role is ideal for a licensed, hands-on technician who is ready to lead a team. Strong technical knowledge, organization, and attention to compliance and record keeping are essential. Key Responsibilities Irrigation Management Lead irrigation inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs across all maintenance properties Manage smart controller programming and water scheduling (Hunter, Rachio, Rainbird, Weathermatic and similar platforms) Diagnose valve, wiring, zone, backflow, and pressure issues; repair or schedule repairs Run seasonal startups, shutdowns, and freeze protection Build and track water-use audits and conservation recommendations for clients Write repair proposals and scope irrigation enhancement work for account managers and clients Irrigation System Design Chemical & Plant Health Program Plan and run the annual fertilization, herbicide, insecticide, and fungicide program Scout properties for weeds, pests, disease, and turf stress; recommend treatments Perform and supervise applications in compliance with Texas Department of Agriculture rules Keep accurate application records, product inventory, and Safety Data Sheets Maintain spray equipment and ensure proper chemical storage, mixing, and disposal Crew Leadership & Operations Supervise, train, and schedule irrigation and spray technicians Oversee technician licensing and continuing education Track work orders, hours, and materials in our job management software (LMN) Communicate clearly with clients, property managers, and account managers Help control costs through smart purchasing, routing, and inventory management Qualifications Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator license covering lawns, trees, and ornamentals (Commercial Applicator, Category 3A Landscape Maintenance), or ability to obtain within 90 days 3+ years of commercial or residential irrigation experience 2+ years of turf and ornamental chemical application experience 1+ year supervising a crew or technicians Valid Texas driver's license and a driving record that meets our insurance requirements Comfortable working outdoors in South Texas heat, lifting up to 50 lbs, and handling PPE Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred TCEQ Licensed Irrigator, Irrigation Technician, or Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester license preferred Experience with smart controllers (Weathermatic, Rachio, Hunter, Rain Bird) preferred Experience with LMN or similar landscape job management software preferred Knowledge of South Texas turf types, native plants, and common pests Pest License Backflow License What Success Looks Like Healthy turf and plantings with fewer client complaints and callbacks Irrigation problems diagnosed and fixed quickly, with measurable water savings for clients Every chemical application completed on schedule, fully documented, and compliant A licensed, well-trained technician team and growing irrigation enhancement sales This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the role. Pay:

$60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
