Reporting to the park manager, the primary responsibilities of the park maintenance specialist include cleaning and maintaining park buildings and grounds. Additionally, on an as-needed basis, this position may welcome guests and facilitate admissions and gift shop sales in the visitor center. This position will be filled for an approximate seven-to-eight-month season between October 2026 - May 2027.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Hourly pay rate range starts at $16.00/hour, paid biweekly.
  • Status is non-exempt - subject to overtime pay.
  • Work schedule may range between 16-40 hours/week.
  • Holiday pay following successful completion of a 30-day introductory period.
  • Vacation leave and earned sick leave begins accruing upon hire.
Use of leave may be requested following successful completion of a 60-day introductory period.
Required Qualifications & Working Environment:
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Possess and retain a valid driver's license.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Willing to work weekends, holidays, and some evenings.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors on park grounds and in all weather conditions.
  • Regularly required to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects up to 50 pounds.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform janitorial duties, including but not limited to emptying trash, and cleaning restrooms, windows, exhibits, outdoor signage, buildings, and picnic tables.
  • Perform general building repair and maintenance, including but not limited to painting projects, changing light bulbs, repairing minor plumbing issues, operating hand and power tools, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Perform landscaping duties, including but not limited to trimming trees and bushes, pulling weeds, raking and bagging landscaping debris, picking up litter, and repairing minor irrigation leaks.
  • Perform special event and programming duties, including but not limited to setting up and tearing down decorations, tables and chairs, pop-up tents, and supplies.
  • Perform guest services representative duties, including but not limited to welcoming guests, promoting park admission, collecting admission fees, and facilitating gift shop sales utilizing a point-of-sale system.
  • Provides excellent customer service and deals tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
  • Communicates park information to visitors.
Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities:
  • Familiarity and experience with conducting general building maintenance and painting projects (sanding, priming, painting, wearing respirators).
  • Familiarity and experience with conducting basic cleaning and janitorial work following cleaning and sanitation techniques; practices safe use of cleaning products, chemicals, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Familiarity with and ability to perform minor irrigation system repairs.
  • Familiarity with and experience safely using ladders, hand and power tools (drills, saws, landscape blower, sander, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, chain saw, etc.).
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Possesses excellent reliability and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with accurate cash and credit card handling.
  • Familiarity with basic computer operating skills.
  • Promotes a positive environment, good personal behavior, and follows safety standards.
  • Communicates effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Follows and understands verbal and written instructions and procedures.
