Sanger, CA 93657 Job Summary Western Camps Inc. is seeking a Lead Groundskeeper to support the maintenance and care of all outdoor grounds, landscaping, and irrigation systems across multiple properties. This position performs skilled grounds maintenance work and provides day-to-day support to the Grounds Department. The Lead Groundskeeper also serves as a working lead in the absence of the Facilities & Grounds Supervisor, helping coordinate tasks and maintain property standards. Key Responsibilities Grounds Maintenance Perform routine landscaping duties including mowing, edging, trimming, and blowing Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and landscaped areas Control weeds and apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as directed Clean and maintain walkways, parking lots, and outdoor common areas Assist with seasonal cleanup, planting, and property preparation projects Irrigation Systems Inspect irrigation systems and identify maintenance issues Repair sprinkler heads, valves, leaks, timers, and minor line issues Adjust irrigation schedules based on weather and seasonal conditions Report complex system issues requiring outside repair Equipment Operation & Maintenance Safely operate groundskeeping equipment and tools Perform routine maintenance (cleaning, blade changes, lubrication) Identify and report mechanical issues to Fleet Mechanic Ensure proper storage and upkeep of all tools and equipment Lead Duties (As Needed) Coordinate daily work priorities in supervisor's absence Provide direction to maintain workflow and productivity Serve as point of contact for urgent grounds issues Escalate safety or operational concerns as needed This job description is not exhaustive and may be adjusted based on operational needs. Qualifications Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or related field preferred Knowledge of irrigation systems and landscape maintenance practices Ability to operate and maintain grounds equipment safely Strong attention to detail and work quality standards Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good communication and problem-solving skills Reliable, safety-conscious, and adaptable to changing priorities Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the workday Ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs with or without assistance Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, wind, and rain Ability to use ladders, hand tools, and powered equipment safely Visual ability to inspect grounds, irrigation systems, and equipment Schedule Full-time schedule, typically Monday-Friday. Occasional weekends, holidays, or extended hours may be required based on operational needs.
