Job Description
Cemetery Steward / Grounds Crew Morgan Oaks Eternal Preserve is seeking a hardworking, compassionate, and reliable Cemetery Steward to join our growing team. This position plays an important role in caring for our beautiful natural preserve while helping families during meaningful moments in their lives. This is a unique opportunity to work outdoors in a peaceful, conservation-focused environment that combines land stewardship, habitat restoration, and cemetery services. Industry experience is appreciated, but not required. We are willing to train the right individual with a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Position Overview The Cemetery Steward/Maintenance Crew Member assists with maintaining the cemetery grounds, supporting burial services, restoring and protecting native habitat, operating equipment, and helping ensure families and visitors feel supported and cared for while on the property. This role involves physical outdoor work in all weather conditions and requires someone who is dependable, respectful, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a cemetery environment. Responsibilities Assist with burial preparation and graveside services Support burial site maintenance and restoration after services Plant and maintain trees and memorial landscapes Maintain native habitat and assist with invasive species removal Help maintain trails, fences, gates, and property infrastructure Operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, chainsaws, string trimmers, ATVs, golf carts, and mini excavators Assist with general property upkeep and stewardship projects Interact compassionately and professionally with families and visitors Work closely with the Lead Steward and cemetery team Qualifications Industry experience preferred but not required Background in landscaping, construction, farming, ecology, environmental science, cemetery work, or outdoor labor is a plus Ability to perform physical labor and lift 50+ pounds Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Strong communication skills and professionalism Ability to work independently and as part of a team Compassionate and respectful demeanor around grieving families Reliable transportation and dependable attendance required Join us in creating serene environments that honor memories while ensuring safety and beauty!
