$84.00/Month to cover transportation expenses Overview TSG is seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join our Landscaping/Grounds Maintenance team. In this role, you will help maintain, enhance, and preserve the beauty of the San Francisco National Cemetery. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring the cemetery remains a place of honor, dignity, and tranquility for Veterans, their families, and all visitors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and comprehensive knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance practices. Successful candidates will demonstrate professionalism, respect, and sensitivity while performing their duties, ensuring the cemetery grounds are maintained to the highest standards and that all visitors are treated with courtesy and compassion in this solemn setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine landscaping and grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, and planting to ensure healthy growth and aesthetic appeal Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and flower beds to ensure a well-kept and uniform appearance Apply horticultural best practices for soil care, irrigation, pruning, and seasonal upkeep Remove debris, litter, and fallen leaves to preserve cleanliness and safety Assist with gravesite preparation and restoration as needed Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as lawnmowers, power tools, irrigation systems, and excavators, safely and efficiently. Maintain irrigation systems by inspecting, repairing, and adjusting sprinklers to promote optimal water distribution. Monitor grounds for signs of damage, disease, or safety concerns and report issues promptly Uphold the respectful and solemn atmosphere of the cemetery at all times
Qualifications:
Prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or horticulture preferred Knowledge of landscaping techniques, plant care, and equipment operation Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards Ability to work independently and as part of a team Respectful demeanor and understanding of the sensitive nature of cemetery work
Work Environment:
This position is based outdoors at a historic and active national cemetery. Work involves physical labor, exposure to varying weather conditions, and the use of landscaping equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform physically demanding outdoor landscaping work, including lifting up to 50 lbs. (with assistance for heavier loads), and tasks such as planting, digging, grading, and sod installation. Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and working on uneven terrain. Must safely operate and maintain landscaping equipment. Work is year-round in varying weather conditions, with exposure to dust, pollen, insects, and noise. Requires good vision, hearing, and the ability to assist with maintaining landscaped and memorial areas.
