We work for high end clients in the Oakland Hills, Berkeley, Marin, and San Francisco so you are expected to keep a good appearance and behave accordingly. This job is on call and not steady employment. In the winter time, there is rarely any new work and with El Nino coming I'm not expecting much. But, come spring time next year, there should be a lot of work. You do not have to have a lot of landscape experience, I will teach you what you need to know, but just come ready to work. Must be physically fit and be able to complete the tasks that need to be done. This is not any easy job so don't expect it to be. Also, no addicts. I dont care if you party now and again but work is work Responsibilities Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, edging, pruning, planting, and fertilizing to keep outdoor spaces lush and well-groomed Operate a variety of groundskeeping and landscaping equipment such as power tools, lawnmowers, excavators, and snow plows with safety and precision Maintain irrigation systems by inspecting for leaks, adjusting controllers, and repairing components to ensure proper watering of plants and turf Identify different plant species and assess their health; apply pesticides or fertilizers following safety protocols when necessary Conduct tree care activities including trimming, pruning, and removal to promote healthy growth and safety Execute hardscape projects such as installing or repairing pathways, retaining walls, or other landscape features Follow all safety procedures diligently during outdoor work to prevent accidents and ensure a secure work environment Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate power tools and landscaping equipment safely Extensive experience in landscape maintenance, groundskeeping, and gardening practices Knowledge of horticulture principles including plant identification and pest management techniques Proficiency in irrigation system management and troubleshooting skills for irrigation repairs Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators or snow plows when required for seasonal tasks Familiarity with safety protocols related to outdoor work environments and equipment operation Excellent attention to detail in lawn care, tree trimming, hardscape installation, and general grounds maintenance tasks Effective communication skills for teamwork and understanding project requirements This role is perfect for motivated individuals passionate about outdoor work who want to grow their expertise in landscaping while contributing to beautiful outdoor spaces.
