Required:
High school diploma or GED required. Valid Colorado driver's license. Or any other combination of related education, experience, and training.Preferred:
1 year experience in the application of pesticides, fertilizers, and/or sprinkler system maintenance.JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective:
Primary responsibilities include the application of fertilizers, pesticides, maintenance of irrigation systems, trimming trees and shrubs,preparation of athletic fields, moving furniture and athletic equipment, completing as assigned Work Orders, preventive maintenance and the repair of playground equipment, turf and native grass areas.Essential Functions:
Works under the general supervision of the Grounds Department Manager or designee. Operates and efficiently uses tractor and attachments for tractors in mowing, fertilizing, and spraying operations. Operates light duty vehicles. Makes repairs and adjustments to mowers and equipment. Conducts general trash clean-up around school buildings. Maintains sidewalks and curbs, trimming shrubs and trees with power edger or hand tools. Uses utility equipment, i.e., tillers, cultivators, mulchers, trenching machines, etc. Assists in the application of fertilizer and pesticides. Assists in installing fences, gates, signs, and athletic equipment. Assists in installing sprinkler systems and their repair. Assists in laying and marking of athletic fields. Assists in planting of trees, shrubs and lawns. Moves furniture and school supplies between sites. Performs general labor tasks such as ditch digging, cement work, jack hammering, tree removal, etc. May be responsible for watering lawns and shrubs, using sprinklers and/or water hose. Performs work according to printed information on the Facilities Department work order system. Removes snow. Assists with emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned.Additional Qualifications:
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, light trucks, and tractors. Ability to service and make repairs to ground power equipment. Ability to perform strenuous labor in all types of weather. Ability to apply pesticides. Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions. Ability to follow established safety practices. Ability to perform all functions of the position.Other Duties:
