BVSD Summary:
The Garden-to-Table Program Assistant supports hands-on garden and classroom activities that connect students with gardening, food, and healthy eating. Responsibilities include helping prepare and set up class lessons, assisting teachers and students during garden-based activities, maintaining and cleaning up the garden, organizing materials and supplies, and helping ensure that the garden and classroom spaces are ready for lessons and activities. The position works collaboratively with teachers and Garden-to-Table staff to create a welcoming, organized, and engaging learning environment for students.
Responsibilities:
Assist with setting up and preparing materials for Garden-to-Table class lessons and activities. Help teachers and students during hands-on garden and food-based activities. Prepare the garden and classroom spaces before lessons. Assist with garden maintenance, including weeding, planting, watering, harvesting, and general upkeep. Clean and organize the garden, classroom, tools, and supplies after activities. Set up, organize, and put away lesson materials and equipment. Help students safely use garden tools and participate in activities. Support staff with demonstrations, activities, and other classroom needs. Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment. Perform other tasks related to the Garden-to-Table program as needed. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
Must be 21 years of age, or older High School Diploma or equivalent Complete and submitted BVSD online application Communicate (read, write, and speak) in
English Preferred:
Must be available after school and evenings. Knowledge of all aspects of elementary school activity programming. Proven leadership qualities and successful experience in working with elementary school students.
Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
•Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule ) . BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience and education.
