Overview Join our dynamic horticultural team as a Plant Nursery Worker / Small Equipment Operator! In this vital role, you will be responsible for supporting the growth and maintenance of a diverse range of plants in both greenhouse and outdoor environments. Your expertise will help ensure healthy crop production, efficient irrigation management, and vibrant landscapes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, operate essential equipment, and contribute to sustainable horticultural practices. Responsibilities Operate small equipment such as compact tractors, forklift, lawnmowers, trimmers, and irrigation systems to maintain nursery grounds, unload deliveries, and load bulk customer orders Assist in planting, transplanting, pruning, and trimming garden beds, lawns, and greenhouse crops Manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering schedules for various plants and crops Offer customers except service in all aspects of your roles at the nursery. Support greenhouse cultivation activities including plant propagation, environmental control adjustments, and crop harvesting Identify different plant species and pests to implement integrated pest management strategies effectively Conduct outdoor work including land clearing, soil preparation, garden trimming, and landscape maintenance Skills Knowledge of irrigation management and agricultural environmental control systems is encouraged Knowledge of horticulture practices such as crop production, greenhouse cultivation, and gardening techniques Ability to operate all equipment and hand tools safely and efficiently. Familiarity with plant identification and basic math skills for measurements and calculations Knowledge of land management practices including lawn care, farming techniques, and landscaping principles Physical ability for heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and performing outdoor work in varying weather conditions This role is perfect for motivated individuals passionate about horticulture who thrive outdoors and enjoy working with plants.
