Lee County Parks & Recreation is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Pro/Am Sports Grounds Crew to help ensure our athletic fields, stadium grounds, and surrounding facilities are in excellent condition. This role plays an important part in preparing safe, high-quality playing environments for amateur athletes as well as professional major and minor league players, coaches, and officials. We are looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride in creating well-maintained athletic spaces. The ideal candidate will help create safe and enjoyable sports environments for players, coaches, and visitors at our facilities throughout Lee County. What You'll Do Duties include, but are not limited to: Perform daily maintenance tasks related to turf care, ensuring optimal playing conditions for all amateur and professional sports events Prepare infield clay surfaces to meet the specific requirements of various sports events, ensuring safety and performance standards are upheld Remain attentive to the needs of amateur athletes, as well as professional major and minor league players, coaches, and team officials, to facilitate a positive experience Work closely with temporary staff and contract laborers to coordinate and complete all assigned tasks efficiently and effectively Ensure that all grounds maintenance activities are executed to the highest standards, contributing to the overall success of sporting events What We're Looking For High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience One (1) year of athletic field maintenance, groundskeeping, general maintenance, or related experience Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Related experience may include: Landscaping, lawn care, or turf management Groundskeeping or sports field preparation General maintenance or facility upkeep Recreation center or sports complex work Outdoor labor or construction helper roles Volunteer experience involving outdoor or maintenance tasks Preferred Qualifications Experience operating athletic field maintenance equipment Familiarity with turf care practices and field layout Understanding of safety protocols and occupational hazards Ability to perform basic math calculations Work Schedule This position primarily works Wednesday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Hours may vary and can include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules. Why Join Us?
