Job Description

Position Summary The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of golf course maintenance equipment to support the daily conditioning, appearance, and playability of the golf course and surrounding landscaped areas. This position performs a variety of grounds maintenance duties while helping maintain the high standards expected at Hideaway Beach Club. Team members are expected to operate equipment safely, care for club property, and contribute to an exceptional member experience. Essential Responsibilities Safely operate a variety of golf course maintenance equipment, including fairway, rough and greens mowers, utility vehicles, aerifiers, blowers, trimmers, sprayers (as assigned), rollers, and other specialized equipment. Perform mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, and other turf maintenance activities according to daily work assignments. Assist with golf course setup, including cup changing, tee marker placement, bunker maintenance, divot repair, and course detailing as assigned. Inspect all equipment before and after use to ensure safe operating condition. Clean equipment thoroughly after each use and store it properly. Perform routine maintenance such as checking fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, coolant, tire pressure, and grease points. Report equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns promptly to the Golf Course Superintendent, Grounds Manager, or Equipment Manager. Make minor equipment adjustments when appropriate and within training guidelines. Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and supplies safely. Assist with tree trimming, brush removal, storm cleanup, debris removal, and other seasonal maintenance projects. Maintain drainage areas, culverts, ditches, cart paths, and other course infrastructure. Water landscaped areas, ornamentals, and newly established turf as directed. Collect litter and maintain a clean, professional appearance throughout the golf course and maintenance facility. Follow all safety procedures regarding equipment operation, chemical awareness, personal protective equipment (PPE), and hazard reporting. Assist with special projects, tournament preparation, and emergency response activities as needed. Support fellow team members and perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental needs. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to safely operate golf course maintenance equipment after receiving appropriate training. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment issues. Ability to work independently while following detailed instructions. Knowledge of safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work including bending, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, and standing for extended periods. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work effectively as part of a team. Reports To Golf Course Superintendent Works Closely With Equipment Manager Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
